As winter quickly approaches, this is a reminder that the City of Farmer City prohibits allowing dogs or cats to remain outside and unprotected during extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow, cold and heat. It is also unlawful to keep a dog or cat tethered with a lead of less than 10 feet to any object outside, tethered between 10 pm and 6 am that unreasonably limits the dog’s movement and/or to be left unattended without proper food and water. Violators face a fine of not less than $100 per offense.
