The City of Farmer City will hold a public meeting to hear your thoughts on new sidewalk and sidewalk replacement for elementary school age children. Please attend our forum on October 17, 2018 at 6 pm in the Blue Ridge High School Cafeteria.
The Safe Routes to School program is a federal program that facilitates bicycling and walking as a safe alternative to get to school.
We hope to receive a 100% reimbursable grant that will enable us to repair and replace sidewalks within a 2 mile radius of Schneider School.
Please come out and let us know where you would like to see better or new sidewalks! Questions, please call (309) 928-3412.

Fruit Sales Once Again
Outreach will start its annual Fruit, meat and cheese sale on Oct 3. If you haven’t tried the fresh fruit that Outreach sells you are definitely missing something. We offer Oranges, grapefruit, pears, apples, mangos, as well as Summer sausage, beef sticks, cheese spreads, cheese blocks, and jerky. A new item last year that was a big hit was the Cherry Maple Elk Bites. These were so popular I had to order a second batch.
Orders will be taken until November 16 with delivery being the second week of December. This is excellent fruit and keeps for a long time in the fridge. (I often eat my last orange in early March)
These items make wonderful Christmas gifts for those hard to buy for people on your shopping list, so give us a call (309-928-9400) or stop by Outreach and check out the many options that are available. Remember, I need your order by Nov. 16.

Christmas Shop coming once again
Outreach will once again host a Christmas Shop for parents and/or legal guardians of Blue Ridge School District. We offer free shopping for qualifying parents or legal guardians each year for toys and gifts that are purchased by donations so that all children have a happy Christmas.
Outreach accepts donations of money to purchase these toys or toys that individuals buy and donate to us to fill our “shop” so the parents or legal guardians have a large selection to choose from. We offer toys for children from 6mos to 12 years of age.
When I hear a parent say oh wow, this is just what (child’s name) wants, he/she will be so happy I just want to say “can I come to your house and see their face when they open it?” It is very rewarding to see the look on the faces of grateful parents that they can give their child something for Christmas and know you had a small part in making it possible.
We also keep the children busy with a craft while parents are shopping. This year I have something special for the kids and I think they will really enjoy it.
Mark your calendar for Dec. 15 for the Christmas shop. Parents, you will be getting information in your child’s backpack to remind you of this date.
If anyone would like to donate to this program you may send your donation to Outreach P.O. Box 101 Farmer City, IL 61842 or you may drop it off at Outreach. Also if you would like to volunteer to help on that day or if you would like to be a shopper let me know at 309-928-9400.
