Farmer City strategic planning retreat
On Sat., Feb. 10, 2018, the City Council and staff participated in a very successful strategic planning retreat. Why do this? Because a strategic plan focuses the energy, resources, and time of everyone in the organization and community in the same direction. Consultants from Northern Illinois University’s Center for Governmental Studies facilitated the workshop, which was the 2nd step in the process for setting goals, a vision and an action plan for the City’s future. The first step included 3 focus group workshops consisting of community stakeholders, organizations, businesses and residents. We look forward to sharing these goals and vision in the near future.
A big thank you to the Blue Ridge School District for the use of their high school library! They were terrific hosts and we appreciate it!
Farmer City Police
Please help the City address ordinance violations, such as illegal burning, by contacting the Farmer City Police Department at (309) 928-2111. They will address these violations based on personal observation and citizen complaints. In the case of leaf burning, with the wind and depending on the size of the fire, it can be nearly impossible to locate individual fires amongst 1,100 residences.
The Police Department will continue to identify ordinance violations such as nuisance properties, excessive weeds and abandoned vehicles, to name a few. We seek the community’s cooperation in addressing these matters. Please call the non-emergency number to report violations; we will not release your name. Again, that number is (309) 928-2111.
Thank you for helping us keep Farmer City safe and clean!
Farmer City Camp Grounds
Campgrounds reopening will be March 1. Scott Kelley is looking for volunteers for a spring clean up of downed stick and limbs from the sites. Anyone interested please contact him as we will have a weekend of cleanup coming in the next few weeks.
We will also be looking for volunteers to help keep the sites trimmed up and mowed again this year.
We keep mowers at the campground shed along with fuel.
Let Scott know if you would like to take a site or 2, mowing a site takes about 5 minutes.
