The City’s Electric Department strives to provide residents and businesses with safe and reliable power 24/7.  The system is a 4.16kv served by a 12.47 kv distribution system of Ameren IP via the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency.  Crews operate and maintain the power generating plant with 5 backup generators as well as a system of nearly 400 transformers and more than 1150 poles.
